the mean streets

Colins recovery continues,,i hate to jink it but no problems at this time, his skin and chest clear and with numerous visits from Melissa and Shelley,Louise is working ,has kept his spirits high.As in every unit patients come and go,,although the spinal unit keeps their prey longer than most,,this week saw one of our longer staying friends return to the community,,to save my knee caps i will refer to him as my gangster friend. On his return to freedom he felt best to bite the bullet and brave the mean streets of Glasgow where on his patch he is known as a big man,he knew he was being watched,,not difficult to spot 2 plain clothed policeman in his territory,,they were obviously letting him know they knew he was around,,anyway he wheeled around saying hello to old mates when he was approached by two uniformed police to his amusement to be asked his whereabouts at a certain time as a push bike had been stolen and the witness had said he had seen 3 men and a chap in a wheelchair who matched his description lurking.I ask you what was he going to be doing with this bike,,so his day continued and on his way home he came face to kneecaps with two young thugs a bit worse for the wear,,who decided in their drink fuelled bravery to challenge the big man,,although confinde to a wheelchair,,and tried to mug him for his trainers,,,oh my god this is true ,,two weedgies tried to get his trainers off him,,how sick are they,,but he fought them off and they obvilously thought better of the situation and ran.So this once feared chap is going to have to stamp his authority on his territory once more and i suggest those two fools hide or at least leave the mean streets as this guy has a long memory and many connections or never mind trainers they might be wearing cement bootees,

  1. Even though I am about as far south as you can get from Glasgow, your witty (and scarily accurate) account of your "ganster pal" had me smiling and thinking of my home town...thank you! Hope you all doing well and kindest wishes from Reading - loads to tell already but will save my stories and look forward to updating you on my return. Take care and thinking of you as ever Gaynor xxx
