weekend

saturday and sunday have passed again,hacking cough still with me and unfortunately passed on to colin,,poor guy,,bad enough ,i felt terrible, but to pass it on,,oh well never mind.Another week looms,,time on the ergo,,,Colin has been so tired this weekend he feels from the energy spent on this machine,,i suppose after all these months 30min feels like running a marathon.But its exercise that brings the best out in Colin,and he wouldnt miss it.Louise,Douglas and Lesley visited this saturday,,i was with my brother and his family ,elaine and the girls and my dad and Monica for afternoon tea and dinner at Cameron House,,,never left the bar,Loch Lomond still a mystery to me,,but a nice treat and hacking cough and all enjoyed the break,,Shelley enjoying time with her cousins. Sunday spent with Colin and the Furnnows,,,who have the 4 day pass adventure this weekend coming,,hopefuly not that long now till we two have that pass to look forward to.

fairy dust

colin is good,,he is now up to 7hours,,dont realy like saying it out allowed as it might jink it,,but the longer he is up and able he can come home,,maybe just for a few hours,,and then a few days and then for good,,so we are crossing all our bits and saying all our prayers and it will come sooner than we know.My freind Donna now she has magic powers,,it is even said she may be a fairy queen,,,i dont doubt it she has worked her magic on our family for many years,she is an amazing friend and is always there with tea and chat,,her own story reading like a fiction novel,,but sadly she too has had many traumas put in her way,she is always there for others and i know that she will make you smile and laugh and think oh well things arent that bad,,,but there again maybe its only her fairy dust.

Lifes a bitch and then you die..................

just been to doctor,,colin and i are sure getting our moneys worth from the NHS,,reckons i have seen the worst of this viral thing,,,might have been the hours spent in my bed yesterday,,an alien concept to me,,take lots of water and get lots of sleep,,gave me a pill to take and off i went.Missed Colin yesterday but he did have Les to chat to,,chatted so much he missed supper,,a pizza was ordered so all well..these day nurse pills are terrific,,pep you up ,,well for four hours anywyay,,make you feel almost human,,but tonight its the biggy,,some knock a horse out pill,,thank goodness i was a wreck last night i tossed and turned i flipped channells and eventualy fell asleep to dream about who knows what but on awakening was in a foul mood.As colin is so fond of saying,,Lifes a bitch,and then you die.

snow snow snow

colin is doing well,,he is anxiously awaiting his time on the ergo machine,,,it can get the best out of you and is precious time,,lets hope it starts soon.Monday was a strange visit,,it involved social workers,,figures and finance,,and realy neither of us wanted to be there,,social work,grants and laying your world open is alien to most and definatly not something either of enjoyed.But its done and move on,,Mike and Bev are now on count down to realease,,very scary we wont be long behind,,i hope and then sometimes panic,,we arent ready,,nothing done in house,,a few more months loom so lets hope we get things going.I have the dreaded viral cough,,so im staying clear today,,,and we have snow,,its so pretty but it realy is a pain,,,

lazy saturday

took half day from work,,was extremely pleased to have thought ahead,,as i was realy tired and had a couple of chores to do before visiting,,colin was good we sat outside the unit for a long time..It was sundrenched and warm and lazy and just what the doctor ordered,,lunch finished we put on frazier first season,,i had borrowed comfy chair from day room and we sat and giggled and chortled our way thru,,,Mike and Bev suddenly realised that the giggling and chortling had stopped to see me out for the count and colin dozing,,lunch sun and extreme tiredness had caught up with both of us.Perfect saturday,,colin me cake,and a funny DVD,,what more could a girl ask for.

ok alarm set for 0300,,so why am i not asleep,,this is seriously not funny,,,cant stop thinking,,its tiring,,but here i am,,,no one mess with me today,,,a few apoligies while im here,,,sorry fiona promise we will get coffee, soon,,and i might as well say sorry to isla, gail,corrine,fiona m,shirley,caroline rae,jean head,cynthia,,beginning to sound like a and everyone that knows me,,,,realy just to all my freinds that still keep in touch,,that listen and then say lets do supper,lunch,,a coffee,,,realy i would love to,i... just never seem to be here,,well i am just meet you at gyle at 0050 doesnt seem to good an idea to most people.I promise i will be around soon,,,also Gael,,icu western,yes please accept apoligies you are on my list to,am now going back to bed,

i think im going mad....................

colin is good,,his hours are building,he is working hard in gym,,les visited yesterday,,which colin always enjoys,,stories of work,,it makes colins brain work.I have been constantly on the phone,,trying to talk to ot,s,,doctors social work,,oh yes i have all the fun,,it wares you down and we realy havent started yet,,at one stage i will have to talk to buiders,,electricians,,plumbers,,,my fab painter simon is heading to me on monday,,we need to sort out some rooms,,and i havent even decided on a colour,,its lucky its not to be determined by mood or it would be farrow and ball no 2,,,n o i made that up it would have some rather pleasing name like sludge,,yes slimey sludgey who cares,,reckon i should have been in advertising,,missed my vocation there.There is something in the water in govan,,something turning the wives in the spinal unit mad,,i havent spoken to a single one today who is not on the verge,,,the ward sister decided,,as advised by the infections advisor, that it was time to gut all wards,,well gut they did,,and in the process all the bits on colins tables were moved,,well at 7.30 this evening when i was looking for his remote control my temper was at boiling point,,oh yes i was not a happy bunny,,so marched round to the nurses station,,,where might this essential piece of equipment be.to which some little snippet said,,no problem we will keep an eye out for it,,,so off you go you silly little woman,,,ok so she didnt say the last part,,but it felt like it. Oh no you dont,,,I dont think so,,,i could feel the waves of heat and anger and tiredness starting at my toes,,,im sorry that isnt good enough,,my husband has nothing but his telly when i leave and i suggest someone will be good enough to find the remote control which the staff here have moved,,,well they all looked at me as if ,,god where did she come from,,but quick as look at them a lovely nurse chap jumped and said,,let me help,,possibly before i lunged forward and took that little snippet by the throat,,,and find it he did,,in some other patients station,So Colin was left quite happy watching a movie,,and i headed east,,and the nursing staff were left writing up their notes,,im sure something to the effect of dont mess with Colins wife,,she is mental when suffering from sleep deprevation,,,oh well no surprise there then.

tired so tired

colin is good but oh so tired,,they have dropped his mattress down to the next grade,,,it means that if he has a skin break they can go up to his old mattress,,,its good but oh so tiring.As they have a new mattress it means new turning regime,,every two hours,,,you fall asleep,,two hours turn,,you fall asleep two hours turn,,,aaagh,,anyway as usual colin takes it in his stride,,,i on the other hand am so tired i can hardly speak...oh well at least we are tired together,,,

well this has been a very funny week,,not funny haha,,but queer,,im tired of trying to get answers from people..well social work realy,,i know social work,,me,,not realy something i would see in the same sentance,,but hey ho,,,anyway,they have very strange idea of how people live,,they seem to think we are all uneducated,,hope thats spelt right,oinks,who cant read write or have opinions,,that will just accept any suggestions,and say thank you,,what,,,i cant beleive they live on the same planet.Anyway my mp is now getting involved,,now me and politics,,that definatly wasnt something i thought would be in the same sentance,,hmm maybe i should go into politics,,,i would have a lot to say on lots of matters,,nothing new there then,,,but lets hope we can sort things out with out having to go on jeremy kyle,,,can you imagine,,no there is got to be someone out there that will make this all come together.colin is on good form,,hes working hard at the gym,,and his skin dare i say is playing the game,,he had a goal plan meeting and once again asked all the right questions and managed to manouvere the situation to work for him,,we have even got them to say he might even get to come home for a couple of hours soon,,,no braehead shopping centre for my colin,,,no hed rather come home,, anyway we are working on the free the Edinburgh one,,,maybe i will get t shirts printed,,not who killed JR,,you have to be over 40 to understand that one,,or who killed Archie mitchell,,,but free colin mitchell.I read on face book that a polo guy was killed in australia this week while playing polo,,its a fast furious,,scary game,,that not one person that plays would give up easily,,and i feel for his family,,but once a polo player always a polo player.,and i know colin would agree.Lets hope that the 2010 season is a happy warm summer filled with picnics and laughter,,and lets hope colin and i are there to join you.

sunday blinking sunday

work work and more work,,colins eldest child and husband visited today,,,,they took picnic and went to chat and watch rugby,,has kept colin going this weekend.his skin is good he is good,,monday mean gym,,gym means purpose.tuesday monthly goal plan meeting,,i dont think colin will be too pleased at his progress this month,,his skin will have held him back.we will see he has the gym battle i have the battle with social work,,im stronger today i will take them on,,i am beginning to see the light thru the black fog again,,it cant go on for ever,,i have phone calls and emails to do i have to focus.situations with work and social workers drag you down,,they can make desicions for you,,its not my way,,i need to be in control,,early night,,and then it starts all over again

hi folks better day today,,colin and i watched rugby,,never mind scotland,,i am still very emotional,,the last few days have been an emotional roller coaster,,colin and i talked it all over,he is so good at knowing the right thing to do,,he is upset he can do so little to help as he is not there when im needing help,,but he will be,,and colin and the girls give me strength,he is good,,his skin is holding and his mood is good,,johnthan and gaynor,,jamie and les have all been to visit,,they must have wondered why i had just done two rounds with mike tyson,,my eyes red and raw,,but were too polite to say,,thanks guys.louise is going to see him tomorrow,,he is looking forward to that,,i will be at work,,i am most anxious over this,,but it has to be done,,i have loads of freinds there and they will get me thru,

hitting the wall at 110mph

ive been here before,,the black clouds are looming,i have had the worst two days so far,first our grant for adaptions to the house has only partly been approved,,this is a massive blow to us and it hit hard,,it will stop colin access to all but two rooms in his house,,his house that we have worked for since the day we met.it is to raw to talk about but suffice to say i cried for hours and colin was traumautised at his hysterical wife.not good for his moral,but the brick wall was heading towards me at 110 mph.today was no different ,for security reasons i can not divulge information,but lets say i will never understand why people are so strange and take great joy in making peoples lifes horrible and cause trouble,,you know your real freinds when that wall is on its way.i will get over this,,colin is with me and although at this precise moment i could run and run the wall will be hit and i will come out a little bit sore and bruised but still loved.the families in the southern will pick me up,,bev has already started,,they will wipe the tears and listen to the upset,,they will not judge,,mike and bev are in the same place with the same walls,,but they too have come thru,so those people who wait till you have your back turned and then try to steal your thoughts and words and who try and poison your world,,they forget when someone is loved they have the love of everyone they know to pull them thru,,,and bitter hearts are never all owed into that world of mine,,yes there may be brick walls and unscruplous people around every corner but i have colin and my girls and my true freind,,and they have nothing.

coffee cake and tea

wednesday day is charlie day,,we laugh and giggle all the way west,,,as if we were children,,inside we probably are,,an hour of no responsibilities,,just a time to spend quality time with my wee brother.colin is good he has been up for a while,,but is now taking time out in bed,,he has had a hard night,,one of his bed mates has kept the ward awake for the majority of the night,,,colin has barely slept,,and neither has anyone else,,he is exhausted and needs to sleep,,,we have the normal chat,,how are things,any movement,,what was for lunch,,this particular ward chum has been haloucinating,,not sure if thats how you spell it,,anyway he shouts all night about people getting in his bed,,people being in his bed,,on and on he goes,,,well two carers are helping him behind the curtain ,,turn away now if you are genteel,,,when he passes the most enormous fart,,,at this stage one carer says,,theres no way anyone could stay in your bed tonight bob,,,name changed to protect the guilty,,and the other says ,,heck bob you nearly blew my fingers off,,,well how i laughed,,,hmm maybe you had to be there,cup of tea,slice of coffee cake and tea,,,and then east to leave colin with bob and his wind,,which will hopefully blow anyone in his bed out and let everyone get some sleep

i didnt think anyone would die.

very sombre day,,colin is fine ,mark has settled and he is happy that gym time has returned.but he had sad news for me today,,one of his bed mates died yesterday,,its rehab,i thought the danger was over,,but obviously not.I was shocked,nieve maybe,i know its a hospital and i know spinal patients can become ill very quickly,,but i just didnt think anyone would die.I know christopher reeve died,,but he was superman,he lived in a different planet,no not superman planet but hollywood planet and they are always theatrical,,but this is govan glasgow,,so i will re-read all the notes the hospital has given us again and memorise all the danger signs and just hope and pray that i never have to deal with it.

insomnia cup of tea beckoned,,so i ventured down to kitchen,,,damn dash,,,the kitchen lights had fused again,,,melissa colin where are you when i need you,,,no 2 daughter having learnt how to fix fuse has now abandoned me to visit new zealand,,,inconsideate i would call it,,,anyway i can fix this,,yes retreived standard lamp from dining room,,,stood back to admire my handy work,,thought it was all quite retro chic,,,floral ,,,with fringes,,,yes this might catch on,,,place lamp in front of sink,,job done,,turned round tripped over flex,,flex pulled out of plug,,,damn dash,,i can fix this,,,standard lamp retreived from sitting room,,,brass with cream shade,,more laura ashley than retro,,two lamps in front of sink,,,job done,,,lawrence lewellyn bowen and handy andy would be proud of me,,,,i was on a roll,,,,constant beeping of walk about phone has been driving me mad for days,,,i can fix that,,marched thru to sitting room,,ripped out battery,job done.decided rest of alterations to home can wait till tomorrow,,,and i thought DIY was hard.

just in from glasgow,,colin up and in gym,,no news there then,,he was very tired today,,sleep interupted last night as his air mattress failed,,very dangerous for colin as his skin is vunerable,,anyway this was sorted,,new mattrees found,,transfer done,but all this takes time and at one in the morning is not easy,,,so hence the reason colin was about asleep mid sentance,messages on my machine from susan sykes and johnny dm,,i am always so thrilled at the constant support of freinds,,colin is a lucky man to have people that care to keep in touch and wish him well,,we appreciate it all guys...............

did she ever go to school

morning,,well can i just say my middle daughter melissa has left the country,,nothing i said i promise,,but off to visit her best freind the lovely lucy in new zealand for 6 weeks,,,,,at this point i have to say the blog will deterioate immensley,,,i i dont do spelling,,i dont do punctuation and my tenses are normaly wrong,,,so says melissa but i think she exagarates,,,,and yes i did go to school,,,i did mum realy i promise,,it just doesnt always show.So colin,,well lets say it hasnt been the best weekend,,they found a small mark on his buttock on friday,,this means bed rest,,its not big,,but if it broke down we would be back to square one,,so the rugby was watched from his bed,,a welcome release from the boredom of the weekend,Shelley was home ,,brought three strapping lads she met at camp america,,,for a 21st in glasgow,,visiting her dad on the sunday.full of shelley news,,which always amuses colin,,,our rodent freind i think has got the message,,,i hope,,the rodent man was called and brought some poison,,,oh dont start if your an animal lover,,i am too but it was either him or me,,,so far i have heard nothing for the last two nights,,so lets hope its RIP,,,,THE HOUSE IS VERY QUIET,,NO COLIN ,NO GIRLS ,,,NO MICES,,,,i arrive home and phoebe and i curl up,,commotosed and watch what evers on the box,,,how i wish i could go back to the days girls were bickering ,,colin was cleaning tack on my clean floor and i was just hoping for some peace,,,but colin is in rehab now so he is working on coming home,,the girls are never far away and i hope my chums will not stop visiting,,,

The weekend...

Saturday came and went. Colin's two eldest headed west, my picnic basket with them. The day passed with tales of home, their mad mother and tales of woe. My quick nervous breakdown as Louise and I had clashed the previous evening. Louise and I are very similar and both of us being over tired was not a good combination.

A new day and all words forgotten.

I filled my day with some retail therapy. Laura Ashley beckoned.

I headed to Corrine that evening, a plate of chilli to warm me up. Friends are so important at this time.

Saturday evening was spent at the movies. I cannot remember when I was last at the cinema but they did not have two seater sofas! I kid you not. Corrine and I giggled at the "date night couples". It looked like the whole of the southside was there, on viagra.

Then we looked at each other. Maybe they though that we were a couple. OR WORSE, maybe they thought we were two "almost" middle aged women ladies who didn't have a date on "date night".

Sunday passed without any unusual happenings. Colin and I chatted and watched telly and snoozed. Not much different from home. Weekends are long, but they pass. The gym and therapy is just around the corner.
