I am now totally embarrassed by the wonderful "Red Cross Parcels". Fiona and Rebecca, most scrummy, but Marks and Spencers and my waistline have now expanded. So please, no more. My wardrobe cannot take any more delicacies.
Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.

Hi Charlotte and all the girls. My name is Gaelle and I am a nurse from the ICU at the Western General. I never really got a chance to meet you all properly during those first hellish weeks, but I looked after Colin for a number of nights, and was the nurse who recieved him on the night of his accident. I know I, and many others of the nurses, struggled over those weeks with the emotions and frustrations as we all tried so hard to do our best for him. I think he is a remarkable man, and have thought of him often since he left to go to Glasgow. I can't tell you how happy I am to find this blog and to hear of the amazing achievements he has already made. It has made me smile with genuine happiness. Having worked in this job for many years I have learnt that hope must never be lost, and Colin is already proving what at one time appeared the bleakest of futures to have real light.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to tell the rest of the bunch at the western how well he is doing! Take care, Gaelle x
Charlotte, That long walk that's getting longer every day....maybe it would help just the tiniest bit to know that there are loads of us walking that corridor with you and trying to give you the strenghth that you so need. And we will continue walking with you however long it takes. love to Colin and the girlsxx
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note to say that the family south of the border are thinking of Colin every day and willing his improvement. Now that we've found the blog (thanks so much for this), we know so much more. Big Sister has obviously been devasted, especially at not being able to visit during her monthly journeys north in the past. I will let her speak for herself, as I'm sure she will in due course, but David, Ian and I (and, of course, Doreen) want Colin to know that he is always in our thoughts and that we will follow his progress through the blog and celebrate every bit of good news. Our sympathies are with you all. Best wishes. Jim
