coffee cake and coffee

Morning brought more snow,,was at ikea at 10am,,snow up to my knees,,ok most people it would be up to ankles but this is me remember,Anyway new rug purchased,headed home,,builders arrived and quotes were started,,feels a bit surreal,,thought it would never happen.Wednesday is Charlie day,,but this time he brought my other brother Michael,,a nice surprise,,so the boys and I and Shelley headed west,,Colin was there tired but content,,he smiled at the usual Shelley / Hunter banter,always amusing,,he was tired though,,up early,hand therapy,,in the pool and then gym,,so realy very tired.But all good and Colin thrives on it,,coffee cake and coffee was had,,normaly we dont manage to finish one but it was devoured with relish.Left Colin heading to bed,,he has another busy day tomorrow,,boys and I headed east,Good day alround.

I just had to mention my new most favourite telly programme,,Cougar city,,well how Melissa shelley and I laughed it was brilliant, a real tonic,She was so me,,well apart from the fact I am very happily married,do not look at younger men,do not live in a sunshine state,do not drink ,do not have a son,do not work in an estate agents and bestest friend does not live next door.But apart from that realy i think they modelled the show on me.If you didnt catch it check it out,loved loved loved it,,,

this insomnia thing is just so me

Im back,,this dreaming thing has freaked me out,,so insomnia seems better option,,i get more done,,so far have been on net checked out and will have Melissa order in the morning,,new undergarment,,new sofa for sitting room,,aah yes forgot to say this insomnia thing can be pricey,,Builders have been organised to start coming for quotes to start renovations for Colin coming home,,very exciting,one step closer,Council are very exact in their listing of things required for them to quote for,.My list they need to quote for is more vague,,I need a man with a hammer,,so list goes like,1.put up all pictures removed from wall in bedroom bathroom sitting room and hall after painting work was finished,,,note to self,next time get Simon just to leave nails in wall and paint over them,,much easier all round.2.fix door handle in hall,tired of it coming off in my hand.3.add shelf to bookcase in sitting room.All little things but require man with hammer,,4.replace telly plug in kitchen,so need man with screw driver too,,5.put light fittment up in bedroom,,so man with electricians tools,,,Possibly need squad from,,60min makeover,,oh well im sure they know what they are doing.

to sleep and then to dream

I dont know what is worse,,to not sleep or to sleep,,i know it doesnt make sense,,but there again when has that been a problem,,,i slept last night,,exhausted but oh boy was it bad,,i dreamt,,or was it a nightmare,,who knows but it was bad,,there i was looking down on me standing in front of colin in his wheelchair,,watching creepy stalker type,,and me,,the one in front of colin was turning round trying to catch him,,as ever time i looked forward he jumped out his chair and ran around mocking me,,and when i spun round he was sitting in his chair,,a bit like a ...little britain sketch.Oh how it upset me,,i woke up mad as hell and that awful feeling at the pit of my stomach,,,,so maybe easier not to sleep,,The run home from glasgow tonight was very very frightening,,from hart hill to home it was a white out,,seriously bad,,,i could hardly see in front of the car,,,but i made it and it was worth it,,colin was good and mike and bev as company made it a jolly visit,colin due in the pool tomorrow and time on the erigo has started again so all good.

M8,,sleet,what i cant be bothered with this,its summer time,,i know I had to lose one hours sleep on Sunday because they told me it was,,i do hate when people tell me fibs,,its so not fair.Shelley was home when i arrived back,,well this was certainly a surprise,,oh how i miss my girls when they are not home,,she was full of chat,,and she brought a big smile to my face,,Melissa and Shelley laughing and giggling at our kitchen table,,the place where all good things happen,,,and then i remember Colin has no access to my kitchen now,,desirable but not essential..oh how i hate that phrase,,,Colin is tired today,,trying to hard in the gym,,but he ok,,all the girls will be at the hospital at the weekend and all will be all right with the world,,my famiy all together,,the most important thing in the world.

one of my most precious gift ever

Jeff Swanson came to visit,,he arrived in Glasgow bringing Colin one of the most wonderful gifts i have.It was a beautiful ...photo book...full of photos of Colin and friends and family,,at polo,argentina perth dalmahoy,,its amazing I love it...Yes it made me cry,,sad but happy tears,,i know bizarre,,but it just touched my heart,memories,,loves lives it was all in there,,i will never forget their generosity,Colin is still good,,scared to say it realy,,but so far so good.Thom Bell has once again stepped in and saved the day,,Tostada is now with him and he has found her a new home,,again many thanks to him,,Colin and I are realy lucky to have such support and such amazing friends,,Life is good,,we ar on the up,x

my life is pants,,

Colin is good,,well good means no chest infection ,no marks,,but mood wise,,well i dont know if hes good or not,,he never changes,,neither up nor down,,just takes it all in and moves on,,,i left the house at 4am this morning and now its 2050 and i have been home about 30min,,and in those hours i have laughed,,cried ,,sobbed and contempated the meaning of life,,my professional life is as always,,as colin would say move on,,,my other life,,the one in the southern general,,its not easy,,its not easy to see the man you adore taking so much on his shoulders,,its not easy to hear the proffesionals opinion on his progress,,its not easy to hear them discuss you as if you werent there,,you,,or should i say me,,sob at the reality of it all,,and colin just stares forward,,digests it all and moves on,,where does he get his strength,,i am a sobbing wreck,,the early shift catches up,,life is too real,,the swansons had sent a beautiful book full of beautiful photos of colin,,argentina,edinburgh perth,,photos of friends and family,,photos of the past life,,the life i loved,,the new life my life is pants,,but Colin is there and he just takes it all in and moves on,,and i go with him.

this was written at 0338 this morning but middle child must have hidden my laptop,she feels that it is the cause of my night wanders and has obviously taken steps to cure me,Sometimes the young just dont get it.How they despair of their silly old mummy,,Louise just laughs as she trawls the internet for homes for the bewildered,,Melissa,,the teacher in her,is horrified at my lack of punctuation and spelling,if she tells me again that through is spelt like that and not THRU,Oh well they say a parents job is to completely embarrass their offspring and by the looks of it im doing a class A job.Sunday was good,girls and I had breakfast with Charlie and family,bacon rolls at the Clock,what are sundays for.and then west to Colin.He is regaining his strength day by day,the couple of hours in the sun was a real tonic as colour has returned to his face.The girls kept him amused with tales from school,of life and their daily adventures.He enjoys these visits it brings him home.I dont even need to speak the girls take over and i am redundant.Picnic lunch enjoyed ,massage and therapy.All is well with the world.Late afternoon girls head east and colin and i chill.He feels last week and gym were wasted as he was not at his best ,so the daily regime of exercise is eagerly anticipated.Tuesday he hopes to have time in the hydro pool.Mike and Bev went off in the hospital mini bus.She drove he panicked,off to some art gallery and back.Very brave,the mini bus is some old jalopy,no dream machine,but they survived and its one step closer to the real world.No i wont be chauffering the mini bus,lorries trailers,yes but mini bus,no.Colins heart wouldnt take it.

edinburgh model held in connection with sheep massacre

Early sunday morning police in Edinburgh arrested,,ex-model Charlotte Mitchell in connection with the massacre of 1600000000001 sheep,,,I couldnt take it anymore,,she was heard to say as she was led away,,it was either them or me.Friends and colleauges this morning were deeply shocked,,it is so out of character,she is such a wonderful person,,,another who did not want to be named,,Fiona,,said,,I saw it coming,shes not been right for months,Edinburgh social work department are to be investigated,mrs Mitchell has been on the ,sheep at risk register, for months and questions are now being asked how such a thing had been missed.Phoebe,family pet,,crufts winner 1958,is being looked after by family this morning and there will be a court hearing to decide on sectioning as soon as possible.Mrs Mitchells family were not available for comment and are thought to be in hiding untill this problem has been resolved.Mutton Massacre does not seem to be a genetic disorder but tests are being carried out,,Mr Mitchell has declined to comment,,but is known to worship his wife and has decided to stick by her.Is this just another misunderstood ex model who has been let slip thru the net,,misunderstood by society,time will tell.

good day today,,les and sandra were there when i arrived,,they have been such good friends to colin and i these past few months,,,we chatted and then they went off to visit family.It was a lovely day no wind and very warm in the sun,so colin and i and the Furneaux family sat out side and sat in the sunshine,,oh how we loved it,,the warmth of sun on colins face,,a welcome medecine,,and much needed,,there is a lovely courtyard in the middle of the unit,,and if you kept your eyes shut just long enough you could almost have been in the caribean,,the drone of the traffic could almost have been the crashing of waves and well you know,,but reality is what it is and the caribean is what its not,,but you just keep your eyes srewed up that instant more,Colin is well this weekend and between sun and rugby all is good,,

colin is regaining some of his stamina,,its been a difficult couple of weeks,,infections having taken hold,,but antibiotics seem to be working and hes on the up.colleagues and freinds flew in from Tampa,,Chuck Sykes came to glasgow,,les and Mike Kippit,,and Christian.This meant a lot to Colin,his Sykes family as usual have not let him down,They will never know how much their support has meant to the Mitchell family these past months,he will be back guys,,but for now he thanks you

melissas home,,

melissa no.2 daughter has returned from new zealand,,,her adventure now over,,with sky diving and discovering the new world behind her,,new friends made and memories gathered,,she is now home.Thank goodness i think the house might be about to be repossesed,,paperwork never my strong point.Who knew there where so many bills to pay,,i have tried,,realy i do,,but some just hide,,under magazines on the kitchen table,,under the sofa,,under the bed,,,well i m sure the bankruptsy court will take this into account.Do they put your name in the papers,,non payer of bills,,im sure most are done,,anyway colin was not too bad today ,i think his antibiotics are working,,although he was a bit down ,gym ect was ok but hes still not up to his stamina level he would like and that is what he will be working towards,,,i would lie in a foetal position and sob,,no dont take me to the gym,,but colin thrives on it,,strange but true,

me and lionel ritchie

27 years,,no im too young,,no 27 years ago about this exact time,lionel ritchie and i were doing heavy breathing together.Colin was fast asleep upstairs and i was in the early stages of labour,,so there i was playing this lp,,oh yes it was still the days of vinyl,,over and over again as i wanted to be absaloutely sure this was labour and not something i had eaten.Anyway eventualy i reckoned it wasnt indigestion and after many many many hours of labour our beautiful daughter was born,,,one of the three proudest moments of my life,,,, so far.happy birthday Louise.Melissa on route back from NZ via Hong Kong,,and Shelley just finished a million word essay,,ok but it sounded like it.All all right with the world.Colin has had a hard weekend,,the infection nearly gone but the anti biotics taking their toll.Yesterday not great,he slept most of the day,blood pressure was low and his body needed the rest.But lets hope that is behind him now.He is expecting some of the SYKES family to visit from Tampa this week,,they are so supportive and we cant thank them enough.Friends and family,thats what keeps you going when things are tough,and you have all been there for us,,the summer is looming,the sun will shine and THINGS WILL GET BETTER.

hitting my head against a brick wall

not been the best week so far,,colin not being well,,but he is on the up,,but just had news from my social worker,,doesnt everyone have one,,and the city panel have kicked back my appeal to help us with an entry for colin into the kitchen,,,what is the point,,these people dont care why should they,,they dont care that colin will never be able to go into his own kitchen and sit beside the aga,,while i whip up some strange concotion,,thank god for marks and spencers,,they dont care that the kitchen is where everyone goes to get,,tea,supper breakfast,,oh no,,it would be desirable but not essential,,whats the point,i realy dont want these people back in my house,,i realy dont want them making desicions and assumptions about my family.The sooner they are finished and off my land,,i now sound like calamity jane,,,the better.Well it looks like social workers are right up there beside traffic wardens,,oh yes i also had a ticket this week,,,realy my life is a disaster,,,thank god for colin,x he keeps me sane.

colin is up,,thankgoodness,,the longer hes was in bed the nearer it was to having to go back to build up time,,anyway hes up and although still not 100per cent hes good.Have heard a young soldier shot in afghanastan has just been admitted to the unit intensive care.A youngster by all accounts,,how his family feels,,god only knows,,but hes still with them,,such an awful silly war,,god bless those boys still out there.

well here i am 0226 thinking in a warm glow,,,must turn that electric blanket down ,,about colins wonderful comment,,when it hit me,,,WHAT all the other wives are to be whisked off to some cordonbleau event and there i am slaving away in front of the aga,,typical,,well this will cost you dear mr mitchell,,yes it will definatly be double mac,,large fries and large soda,,and maybe even a mcflurry,ME ME ME ME,,,,, see told you men never win,,,

oh how i blubbered

i was in patients kitchen today sorting out a cup of tea for Colin,one of the other inmates wives popped in to tell me a story.A couple of days ago there were a few of the guys involved in some therapy,,,the physio was making chat and asked the guys when they get out were in the world would they go for a meal,,somewhere they all dreamed of going,,one wanted to go to some swanky resteraunt in london,,another in new york,another a glitzy place in glasow,well thom said it came round to colin and he just looked and said,,,HOME...........oh my god how i blubbered,,,so sweet,,Bunty had said to thom,,why couldnt you have said that,,lets face it men will never do anything right,,but my Colin earned a few brownie points today.

on arrival in the west,,i found colin all wired up.his temp,blood pressure,,headache,all the signs of poss dysreflexia,,,i realy must look up how to spell that.anyway hes not great,they are moinitoring him and keeping things stable,,its a wait and see game,,not pleasant for colin but as usual he doesnt moan.

why does everything go wrong at once

Friday was good,,john hutton,,his lovely wife and beautiful baby lily,,an absaloute beautiful baby,,came,,they have just come from living in South Africa to the UK.I have never mat them before but they were lovely and colin loved seeing them.Today was bad,,colin has not been well,his blood pressure was low,,his temperature was low .he was dizzy,,the signs of disrefelxia,,,not a good state,the nurses worked hard with him and he was stable when we left,,Louise and i were with him all afternoon.I had a realy bad day at work,,no details but lets say im on the edge,,if it wasnt for annie and fiona i would be realy,well i dont know what i would be.Thank god for my true freinds and my family,But at the end of the day there is only colin and the girls and we are a strong unit so less important things should not interfere,,but it hurts.

no madder than usual

To those of you that have shown interest in my mental state after the last blog,,dont worry i am not any madder than normal,,,it was just something that amused me,,awaiting social work department to arrive,,the joy,,,colin to have visit from freind from South Africa this afternoon,,so that will be a pleasnt change for him,,but no rest from me i m afraid will be there after.Weekend looms,,im working,,but i will be there,,so to all that were on the hot line to the royal ed edinburgh im fine .

just what the doctor ordered

laughter makes me feel good,,it doesnt seem to matter what is going on in life if someone makes you feel good all problems disapear,,someone that can make me laugh is my brother Charlie,,and wednesday is Charlie day,,how we giggle and laugh along that M8 every wednesday.Memories of childhood,,our own childrens antics,,oh yes we giggle,,his three adorable children,Alexandra the budding tennis star,,who by the way is going to introduce shelley to andy murray,,dont buy your hats yet but i have great hopes for that match,Samantha the diva ,,and stuart who is going to break so many hearts,,their father so proud of them all but oh how we laugh at their stories,,samantha huffing over The stupidity of santa that had OBVIOUSLY given Alexandra the ipod that was meant for her by mistake,,Stewart who is oblivious to the whylie ways of girls and Alexandra who will soon be a young lady and Charlie who has witnessed my three girls wondering how he will cope with it all,,,with a stiff drink i advise charlie,,and a very big one at that.Colin was in a better state of health today,,yesterday was not so good,,doctors were called,,ecg machines fitted all test done,,colin was not well and had a massive tightening across his chest,,i left very late but by this time he was settled,,dont know where these turns come from but we are slowly becoming use to them,,Charlies visit was a nice change,,lots of rugby and politics talk and colin was laid back and relaxed.

colin feels terrible,,i feel better,,well better with a cronic cough,,,what can i say the mitchell clan,,are just hypocondriacs,,,sure thats not how its spelt.But we have a large family,,not just our three girls but masses and masses of freinds all over the world,,who daily keep in touch and i would be proud to call family,,The wonderful SYKES family that stiil continue to send their love and help from afar,,Colin and I will never be able to thank you enough,,the Polo gang who are still very much there and all freinds and family who i would never have survived these last 6 months without,,thank you guys,,you dont need to be intouch every day,,but everyday someone somewhere,,from manilla to dublin from Tampa to edinburgh manages to bring a smile to my heart.If Colin could be made better with love and wishes he would be whole again,,but he cant but at least his heart is full
